*This is an abbreviated version of FBCM Policies.  For a complete set, please contact the office.

WHO DO WE SERVE:  FBCM serves children 6 weeks old thru ten years of age.

LATE PICK UP CHARGE:  First Baptist Children's Ministry closes at 6:00 PM.  If your child is not picked up by 6:00 PM, a late fee is charged to your account.  The late fee is $6.00 for every 10 minutes or portion thereof.  You will be required to sign a statement saying you arrived to pick up your child after 6:00.  The staff person will also sign this statement.  You will be expected to pay this charge with the next week's tuition.

SNOW POLICY:  In the event bad weather should occur during the night, we will make every effort to be open the next morning.  If it is too bad to open, closing announcements will be on the local television stations and WLON radio.  The announcement on television may be shown as either First Baptist Children's Ministry of Lincolnton or 1st Baptist C.M. of Lincolnton.

If First Baptist Children's Ministry closes for the full day, you will be charged for that day.  If the public schools close early, we will pick up the children and you will be charged accordingly.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:  First Baptist Children's Ministry has noticed that cars are left running and occasionally siblings are left in the cars.  For the safety of children, we have established this policy.  Because of the serious nature of this policy, it will be strictly enforced and carries serious ramifications.

DO NOT leave your car running in the parking lot, under the shelter or in the driveway.  Children are not left in the car without adult supervision.  The first Violation will result in a warning that requires you to sign a warning notice.  The second Violation will result in termination of your child (ren) from FBCM.  Although we understand that parents are in a hurry, we feel that this policy is in the best interest of all children.  We appreciate your cooperation in our endeavor to keep your children safe.

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Diapers, wipes, unopened baby food
  • Bottles must be labeled with child's name and date on bottle and lid.  Staff cannot mix formula and bottles not labeled cannot be given to children.
  • Pacifier, special cuddly toy

CLOTHING:  Every child must have at least one complete change of clothing at the center.  Each piece of clothing that a child brings or wears must be clearly marked with the child's name or initials.  Outdoor play is a part of the daily program.  Our children go outside twice a day, so be sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather.  Send a hat and gloves if you want your child to wear them outside.  Shoes must be worn every day.  No sandals, flip-flops, jellies, etc. are allowed and socks are recommended.  Sneakers (tennis shoes) are encouraged so children can play safely on the equipment.

WHAT NOT TO BRING:

  • Medicine-unless it meets the medicine policy, and a medicine slip is signed such as: diaper rash cream, Orajel, and over the counter medicine.
  • Baby powder, lotion
  • Bottles with past date on them
  • Open baby food
  • Food for older children or sippy cup
  • Diaper Bags

Please do not bring food into the building.  If your child has not finished his breakfast, please allow him to finish it before he comes into the building.

HEALTH:  Children will be sent home if they are sick!  Sick children will not be allowed at FBCM.  Children will not be admitted to FBCM if they appear sick upon arrival.  This policy is strictly enforced for the health and safety of all children enrolled.

Do NOT bring your child to the FBCM if he/she has:

  • A temperature of more than 99.6 F
  • A rash that you cannot identify
  • Impetigo-sometimes called infantigo-a skin infection that consists of small blisters surrounded by red areas
  • Conjunctivitis-commonly called pink eye
  • Bronchitis-hoarseness, cough, fever
  • A severe cold, with fever, sneezing and nose drainage
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea-more than one loose or watery stool
  • Mumps, roseola, rubella, red or German measles, giardia lambia
  • Any other infectious/contagious disease

If your child seems to be coming down with something and is not acting normal, do not bring him to the center.  Do not risk exposing the other children.  In the classroom, with close contact between the children, viruses and diseases are easily spread.  if your child has a communicable disease, you must notify administration as soon as possible.

Other parents will be notified that their child has been exposed to a communicable disease and alerted to watch for symptoms.  A child that has been absent due to a communicable disease will require a doctor's note to return.  If your child is "too sick to go outside to play", do not bring him to school.  Staff members are not available to stay inside with one child and outdoor activity is an important part of the program.  Children will go outside twice daily depending on the weather.

MEDICATIONS:  FBCM prefers not to administer medication; however if it is necessary, we will medicate your child if you follow these guidelines:

  • No drug will be given to a child without specific instructions from the parent, a physician or other authorized health professional
  • No drug will be given after its expiration date
  • Prescribed medication shall be in its original container bearing the pharmacist label which lists the child's name and direction for dosage.  Prescribed medicine shall be administered only to the person for who it is prescribed
  • Patent medicine, such as cough syrup, aspirin, or medication for intestinal disorders, need a pharmaceutical label on them for us to administer.  This label should have the child's name and directions for dosage.
  • When any questions arise concerning the medication and if it should be administered, the medicine will not be administered
  • All medication will be sent home daily
  • A medication slip must be COMPLETELY filled out.  The child's name, the date, time, amount, and type of medication to be given must be provided on the form provided by FBCM

BEHAVIOR MANAGEMENT:  Praise and positive reinforcement are effective methods of the behavior management of children.  When children receive positive, non-violent and understanding interactions from adults and others, they develop good self-concept, problem solving abilities, and self-discipline.
